## The Authors

Howard Anton earned his B.A. at Lehigh, his M.A. from Illinois University, and his doctorate the University of Brooklyn. He joined the Mathematics Department at Drexel University in 1968, and taught full time for 18 years. Most of his time since then has been spent writing textbooks and composing activities for mathematics associations. Dr. Anton was president of the EPADEL Section of the MAA (Mathematical Association of America), where he was among the Board of Governors. He also helped to create the Student Chapters of the MAA. Currently, there are more than 175 different versions of his books, and they have been translated into many different languages.

Chris Rorres received his undergraduate degree at Drexel, and his doctorate from the Courant Institute. He was a member of the mathematics faculty of Department at Drexel University for more than 30 years. At Drexel, in addition to his teaching duties, he performed applied research in solar engineering, acoustic scattering, population dynamics, and computer system reliability, geometry of archaeological sites, optimal animal harvesting policies, and decision theory. Chris Rorres retired from Drexel in 2001 as a Professor Emeritus of Mathematics, and he is now a mathematics consultant.
